Introducing our new partnership with Syrian Skaters!

June 18, 2026

We’re proud to announce our new partnership with @the_syrian_skaters

What started with one skateboard and one person’s dream has grown into the first registered skateboarding team in Syria. After years of working as a skateboarding coach with humanitarian organizations, founder Wassim Alshrekeh decided to build a team of skaters who shared his vision: to grow the skateboarding community in Syria, create more spaces to skate, and help the sport become recognized across the country.

For many people in Syria, skateboarding is still something completely new. Something they may have only seen in films, or dreamed of trying as children. But through classes and community sessions, Syria Skaters has already reached young people and families from different places, giving them the chance to step on a board, and discover something powerful in themselves. We’re excited to support Syrian Skaters as they continue building the future of skateboarding in Syria.

Support Skateistan and help us keep backing grassroots skate communities around the world.
