Tehran

Skateistan volunteers first started teaching skateboarding in Tehran in March 2023, by April 2024 the project was fully funded . The attendees are all children aged 6-16 - girls and boys - Afghan refugees and Iranian locals learning together.

The main challenge for the younger generation in Iran is to find free educational and recreational opportunities, while finding ways to make an income as many children need to support their families from a young age. Our skateboarding and education programs help them to practice a sport and get an education for free. This in turn builds their sense of wellbeing and encourages them to overcome uncertain or challenging situations.

What are Skateistan Partnerships?

Skateistan Partnerships bring the world together with skateboarding. By focusing on children and youth in many of the hardest places to be a child, Skateistan promotes inclusivity, diversity, resilience and autonomy – especially for girls, displaced youth, and children with disabilities.
