SB.PS is a locally led skateboarding initiative in Palestine that, with the support of SkatePal, is building a self-sustaining movement where local skaters take the lead in their own community. Originally founded in 2023 as a digital platform to document the scene, the organization evolved during the war into a vital, community-driven collective that provides consistent sessions and safe spaces for youth during times of instability. Today, a dedicated team of volunteers runs classes across various West Bank locations, including Asira Ash-Shamaliya and Al-Bireh/Ramallah, with plans to expand to three or more sites next year. Utilizing a community office in Ramallah, the program offers innovative woodworking workshops where young skaters learn to recycle old boards, alongside leadership bootcamps designed to foster shared community through group exercises and events.
At its heart, SB.PS remains committed to the lesson of resilience, teaching participants that progress takes time and that they can rebuild momentum even after significant setbacks due to the ongoing conflict in the region. By investing in essential equipment and covering transport costs for its volunteers, the initiative continues to work toward its five-year vision of becoming a fully registered, sustainable NGO led by a strong pipeline of young Palestinian skaters running the movement themselves.
